2023-09 Changes to Electric Liftgate Closing Feature with Tesla App Version 4.24.5

2023-09 Changes to Electric Liftgate Closing Feature with Tesla App Version 4.24.5

Dear Valued Customers,

We regret to inform you that after updating your Tesla App to version 4.24.5, the feature to close the aftermarket electric frunk and electric tailgate will no longer function as it used to.

In the past, Tesla app would send an API request whenever the frunk/trunk control button is pressed on the app. However, since 4.24.5, they no longer send any signal to the car unless the frunk/trunk is in a closed status.

📱 What Can You Do?

If you require the liftgate closing feature, we recommend using a third-party app that retains this function.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this unexpected change. Rest assured, we are committed to providing you with a seamless experience, and we’ll update you as soon as we have a fix.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best Regards,

Does this affect all frunk series? Mine still seems to be working on the 4.24.5 app

Glenn

Could it be a bug related to adding Siri Shortcuts? Or could it in fact be intentional?
It does however seem like the widget is working for closing as well? I might be wrong though.

Albert

Just updated the Tesla app to the latest version 4.25.5 and the close function is still not available. However, using the iOS Tesla widget does work somehow as per Glenn’s comment above.

Please add me to the mailing list, so I see the updates.
I am able to get the frunk to close with the widget – the shortcut widget on the iPhone…
